I would like to thank the Committee of West Midland Terrier Society for offering me my first judging appointment for SCWTs. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would also like to thank Claire and Spencer, my stewards, who were excellent, and, of course, a big thanks to those exhibitors who entered under me.

All the Wheatens present on the day were of very high quality with good length of coat and not over stylised.
PGD (1) 1. Herbert’s Saffini Smooth Operator at Julibidd. 18 months old with a beautifully soft wheaten coat which is maturing nicely. Compact with good balance, angulation and strong bone. Lovely masculine head with good pigmentation and bite, neck running smoothly to good, short coupled body. Well let down hocks. A happy lad, enthusiastic on the move today! BD, BOS

PB (3,1a) Two outstanding puppies who could easily swap places another day. 1. Hughlock’s Keevasdream Ballerina Blue. 8 months old, very pretty bitch, stunning coat already for her age, with both colour and wave - she caught my eye the minute I saw her. Fine head, good pigmentation and bite, good balance and angulation. Good tail carriage. Presented and moved well. BPB, BPIB. 2. Tilley’s Brynhir Born To Boogie At Starzak. 10 months old puppy, different type to 1. Another lovely bitch. standing four square with a good wheaten coat with waves. Lovely profile, feminine head, good ear set and length of neck. Deep chest, short coupled, well balanced and angulated. Good tail carriage. Unfortunately, messed around when moving!

JB (3,1a) 1. Howes’ Flaxela Flirtini At Daisymaes (A.I.) Stunning 13 month old bitch, well constructed. Feminine with lovely mature wheaten coat falling in loose waves already. Correct size, good pigmentation and bite, level topline with correct tail carriage. Hind quarters with good, hard muscles. Excellent presentation and movement. Very pleased to see her shortlisted in BIS ring. BB, BOB.
2. Shrive’s Clanhanna Reet Petite (A.I.) Another lovely bitch, correct size and well constructed with a very nice wheaten coloured coat still maturing. Pretty head, excellent neck running into compact body with good depth of chest. Tail bang on top and with correct carriage. Unfortunately, a little unsettled whilst in the ring.

OB (4,1a) 1. Paton’s Denzilly Raspberry Beret. A 3½ year old bitch that caught my eye. Correct size, excellent balance and angulation, compact and with a lovely wheaten coat. Feminine head with good bite. Carrying slightly more weight than should today. Excellent presentation and movement. RBOB.
2. Munn’s Snowmeadow Suzy Sixpence. This 5½ year old bitch’s coat has a lovely texture and waves. Lighter in colour than 1. Very well constructed with good movement. Good eye colour smudging into surrounding skin, lovely neck flowing seamlessly to the body, short coupled with good tail set and carriage.
