Firstly, I would like to thank the Committee for
inviting me to judge at this popular, well run terrier show. The atmosphere was
friendly and welcoming and I was delighted to receive the appointment. I had a
decent entry of 17 but sadly there were a lot of absentees, I did, however, find
that on the whole it was a quality entry and I was pleased with my decisions.
Massive thank you to John Clarke and Amelie Smith for stewarding, they were both
very supportive and helped me a great deal to keep things running smoothly. We
had a good sized ring and the exhibits made full use of it. PUPPY DOG (1) 1. Amel-Azizpour’s – CROFFTYSOFTY HAY JUDE. This 10
month old male has a clear coat of lovely colour and soft texture. He has a
masculine head with strong muzzle. Teeth are large with a correct scissor bite.
He has enough neck, good shoulders and straight front with level topline, short
coupled with well set tail. Movement was a little loose in front but that will
improve with age and in fact he did move better in the next class. BD, BOS, BP JUNIOR DOG (1) 1. Amel-Azizpour’s CROFFTYSOFTY HAY JUDE. As above POST GRADUATE DOG (0) OPEN DOG (3-3) PUPPY BITCH (2-1) 1. Barton-Brown’s – ALIDOULALI DANCING QUEEN. This
young lady is 10 months old, she has a pretty feminine head with good dentition.
Although well set, I would prefer slightly smaller ears. She has a nice neck
with good laid back shoulders, she moved okay holding her topline. I would
prefer slightly more rear angulation. I worked her handler hard, but she was
still smiling as she left the ring, well done. JUNIOR BITCH (4) 1. Dowdy’s DENZILLY WAKING THE WITCH (AI). This
beautiful bitch is just out of puppy, she has a very mature coat for age.
Balanced in profile, she presents a tidy outline. She has a feminine head with
good length of muzzle, dentition is a correct scissor bite, she has a nice neck
leading into well laid back shoulders, a good depth of chest and is short
coupled, on the move she has excellent tail carriage presenting an alert
terrier. She was well handled at a good pace. I like her a lot, she lost out in
the challenge to a more mature bitch, but I was very tempted. RBB 2. Ronan’s DENZILLY POPPET MAGIC (AI). Litter sister
to 1. Pretty feminine bitch, she is well proportioned and compact . Her coat has
a beautiful colour and texture and is age appropriate. She has good pigment and
excellent expression. She has good shoulders and strong topline, lovely tail
carriage on the move. Not with her usual handler but she did enough to win her
placing in a nice class. POST GRADUATE BITCH (4-2) 1. Munn’s SNOWMEADOW TREACLE TOFFEE. This bitch has
an abundant beautiful clear wheaten coat. Pretty feminine head with dark hazel
eyes, little ears and a good mouth. Shoulder placement is correct and she has an
excellent front. Short coupled with excellent rear angulation, lots to like.
I’ve written in my notes ‘animated’, she was giving her handler a hard time
today but did just enough to win her class. 2. Wassall’s CLANHANNA A KIND OF MAGIC FOR EMALOT
(AI). A finer made young lady to 1 with a coat of good colour, she has a lovely
temperament. Pretty head, correct shoulders, chest well down, longer in rib but
she is not long. Moved okay OPEN BITCH (4-2) 1. Paton’s DENZILLY RASPBERRY BERET. Balanced bitch
with a lovely coat with good colour and texture. Love her head well covered with
coat and correct proportions. She has a good eye of excellent colour, small neat
ears. Enough neck and excellent front, chest well down. She has moderate rear
angulation and is a good mover, holding her topline and tail, covering the
ground with ease. Her easy movement and terrier attitude won her BOB on the day.
Was pleased to see her shortlisted to the final 8 for BIS. 2. Munn’s SNOWMEADOW SUZY SIXPENCE. Larger bitch to 1
but balanced with lovely coat. She has a beautiful feminine head, shorter in
muzzle but strong. She has excellent pigment with correct eye. Correct shoulder,
straight front, with well sprung ribs and good topline, well angulated rear. Was
in a playful mood today but settled enough to show good movement on the go
around. Sophia Barrett (Saffini) |
