West Midland Terrier Society Open Show 25/11/17

First, I would like to thank the committee for giving me this judging appointment & their great hospitality. There was a fabulous atmosphere at the show. I would also like to thank John Clarke & Anthony Powell for running my ring so efficiently. Finally thank you to the exhibitors who entered their well presented dogs under me, I thoroughly enjoyed going over them. As a breed I noticed that we are starting to lose our width and depth of brisket.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Puppy Dog (3,0) 1st Rogers & Slack’s Berrystock Hawker Tempest, Bl/Br well made with good expression. Held a level topline on the move. Good bend of stifle. Pump handle tail. Moved ok. BPD

2nd Heron’s Dilirystaff All The Rage, Red with white. Top size. Good breadth of chest with nice brisket. Level topline. Needs to tighten on move. Strong quarters.

Junior Dog (1,0) 1st Shipp & Hammond’s Hammystaff Hanky Panky with Idyllicstaff JW, Red with white chest. Good width & depth of chest. Topline good on move. Well muscled. Tight feet.

Novice Dog (5,0) 1st Robinson’s Bouncing Blue Pride, Blue. Topsize. Dark eye. Correct mouth. Well muscled. Played up for handler, who needs to relax & take their time when standing him. Moved ok.

2nd Studley’s Studstaff Flaming Glory, Red. Head needs to finish developing. Wide chest. Feet ok. Moved ok with level topline.

Post Graduate Dog (3,0) 1st Cooper’s Kirniastaff The Black Spot, Brindle & white. Good ears. Good bone. Level topline. Moved ok.

2nd Nock’s Happy Daze, Bl/br. Bully type. Unsettled on the move. Level topline. Moderate bend of stifle.

Open Dog (4,1) 1st Lewis’ Ch Biggleswick Splash Of Ginge, Red with white. Good depth of chest. Good feet. Slightly heavy on shoulder. Moved well. Standard size compact dog with good quarters. Good lay of shoulders. BD

2nd Mayren’s Bellarouge Adonis at Fergiestaffs JW, Red/White pied. Good expression, used ears well. Lacks depth of chest. Good feet. Moved ok. Level topline. In good condition.

Puppy Bitch (3,0) 1st Rogers’ Berrystock Miss Spitfire, Bl/Br with excellent expression. Good front & feet. Level topline. Moderate bend of stifle. Moved well. Developing well should have a bright future. BOB & BP

2nd Heron’s Dilirystaff Devious Spirit, Red & white pied. Good front & depth of chest. Good bend of stifle. Moved ok. Unlucky to meet 1.

Junior Bitch (4,1) 1st Mayren’s Joemikeste Queen Of The Nile at Fergiestaffs, Red and white pied. Compact bitch. Lovely expression. Roaches slightly on move. Moderate bend of stifle. Very balanced.

2nd Desmond’s Elitebull Moonbeam, Bl/br Feet straight on. Lacks chest which needs to develop. Watches judge well. Good bend of stifle. Level topline.

Novice Bitch (3,0) 1st Mayren’s Joemikeste Queen Of The Nile at Fergiestaffs, winner of Junior

2nd Jones’ Li’l Miss Velvet, Blue. Good expression. Eye colour ok. Good depth of chest. Level topline. Good rear action. Good bend of stifle. Well balanced.

Post Graduate (6,3) 1st Hedges, Arnhem Nice As Ninepence, Red with white. Moved a bit close behind. Pretty bitch with good expression. Level topline. Moderate bend of stifle.

2nd Mudd’s Chiselwelstaff Jean Genie, Bl/br Good expression. Bit narrow. Good feet. Developing well. Neat ears. Good shoulders & feet. Level topline.

Open Bitch (7,3) 1st Scotland’s Callastaff Moon River JW, Bl/br bully type. Compact. Neat ears. Good expression. Good feet. Level topline. Moderate bend of stifle. Well muscled.

2nd Jones’ Li’l Miss Velvet, 2nd in Novice.
